Forward In Kindness

Forward In Kindness

As the world falls quiet around us

The earth awakens to bring music to our ears

As we shelter apart from one another we reach out

We reach out in new ways once derided for isolation

We reach out more than we have in decades

We reach out and we yearn for touch we once took for granted

As the world falls quiet around us

We start to notice the minutiae of life's breath

As the walk in abandoned streets we see with fresh eyes

As we walk we can smell spring's potent bouquet

As we walk our eyes do not sting and our ears do not ring from the chaos of the world

As the world falls quiet around us

Some of us take not and cherish the change

While some push for a return to normalcy

While some fixate on an imaginary but agreed

upon currency

Some of us are in no rush to return

We're looking for a way to move forward in kindness

How many masterpieces have I written in dreams that once awake are just smoke at the tips of my lashes
